Contrary to popular opinion, it’s hardly ideal to attach something directly onto your roof. Driving a nail improperly into your rooftop compromises the system and can cause damage to the entire structure.
Instead of attaching things directly onto the roof, you can strategically install close to your roof without affecting it.
Christmas Decorations
Christmas décor can be attached to your roof via the gutter system or the peak of your roof. You can do this without the use of fasteners, though; instead, you can use plastic clips to attach your decorations to the gutter or to the peak of the rooftop.
One thing you need to make sure of is that the décor you’re clipping isn’t terribly load-bearing. Heavy decorations can cause the installation to become structurally unsound.
Solar Panels
You need to install solar panels directly onto your roof for them to be any good. On the one hand, they will improve the protection of your roof from the elements. On the other, they need to be installed properly so that they don’t compromise the integrity of the roof.
When in doubt, consult with your roofing professional before you start any solar panel installation. This will help you make sure that the panels are correctly attached.
At Pritchett Bros, we do not advocate for the attachment of anything onto the rooftop, at least not without making sure the roof can withstand the installation process and the added weight.
